Good Friday Service 2009

About

Location: Church of St John on Bethnal Green, Good Friday service, 10am on April 10th 2009. After 8 years in the making, 's fourteen Stations of the Cross will finally be installed permanently in the beautiful grade-one listed church, St-John on Bethnal Green, designed by Sir John Soane. His powerful series of paintings will be used as an active aid to worship in the Good Friday service at 10am. This is an ambulatory service interspersed with readings and music, passing from Station to Station, in remembrance of Christ's last journey. As they are finally installed permanently, the paintings may also be viewed by the visiting public from 11.15am and over the Easter weekend between services. They will serve as a future attraction to visitors as well as remaining an active aid to worship. Once installed permanently, Gollon's Stations will also transform St John on Bethnal Green into a major visitor attraction in East London. St John on Bethnal Green is situated between the Museum of Childhood and Bethnal Green Tube Station, only minutes away from Chris Gollon's Gallery, IAP Fine Art.
