Different Strokes - University of the Arts Graduate Collection

About

Different Strokes shows a selection of artists whose creative work represents differences in medium, vision, direction and experiences filtered through a decade of the University of the Arts London fine art programmes. The exhibition is the culmination of the Creative Careers fine art project established by Head of Creative Careers Julia Yates, and supported by the Dean of Students, Rob Imeson. The project has been led by artist/curator and CSM MA Fine Art graduate, Miranda Lopatkin, whose inspired approach brought about an improved dialogue between fine art students at Arts London and Creative Careers, as well as producing a lasting project resource. Different Strokes featured a much applauded programme of talks which included groups of fine art commissioners, entrepreneurial fine artists, gallerists and administrators who engaged on many levels with lively audiences of Arts London students and graduates. The project has been characterised by a collaborative approach and we are grateful to the Alumni Association, whose participation was essential in reaching out to past graduates. Also to the Enterprise Centre for the Creative Arts (ECCA), for providing business support and advice to those fine art students working to establish their careers. The Innovation Gallery at Central Saint Martins is the perfect venue to celebrate the work of Arts London fine art graduates. All the contributors to this catalogue have been driven by innovation and creativity, both in their fine art practices and alternative career choices.
