Gill Saunders of the V&A traces the development of wall paper design and it's social context

About

To complement the current contemporary art installation in the Exhibition Gallery by John Kindness, An English Interior, Gill Saunders, Senior Curator of Prints in the Word and Image Department of the V&A will give this talk about the art and history of wallpaper. This illustrated lecture will look at the origins of wallpaper and focus on its use in 18th century interior decoration, looking at changes in styles and tastes as well as production techniques - including flock wallpapers, Chinese hand-painted export wallpapers and 'print room'-style decorations among others.
