About

Contemporary Art Programming is delighted to present The Other Church by Wilhelm Sasnal, part of the AMIE/08 programme of artist moving image screenings, talks and installations. Polish artist Wilhelm Sasnal is one of the contemporary art world's most exciting young artists. He was the 2006 winner of the Vincent van Gogh Biennial Award for Contemporary Art in Europe and earlier this year the Glasgow International Festival of Contemporary Visual Art (Gi) commissioned Sasnal to make a piece of work which reflected some aspect of the city of Glasgow. Sasnal's controversial Gi commission The Other Church is a short film that engages broadly in the issue of the vulnerability and naivety of immigrants. In particular, the work directly references the brutal murder of Angelika Kluk, whose body was found under the floorboards of Glasgow's Saint Patrick's Church in 2006. The Other Church comes directly to Bath after the Glasgow Gi exhibition. AMIE/08 is a programme of screenings, talks and installations in Bath this autumn, presented by Contemporary Art Programming in association with the Bath Film Festival. This year AMIE/08 exhibits and screens artists' performance to camera projects with works by artists including Daria Martin, Elad Lassry and Wilhelm Sasnal. AMIE/08 is also proud to present a new commission, Act Natural by Kim Coleman and Jenny Hogarth. Act Natural is a multi screen projection that uses light as a medium and subject and experiments with different forms of perception and representation. This work will be installed in the eclectic heritage site the Museum of Bath at Work, set amongst a plethora of memorabilia from the last 200 years of working Bath. For further information and for exhibition venues and screening times, please go to www.bathfilmfestival.org contemporaryartprogramming (CAP) vigorously pursues the boldest new work being made in contemporary art.
