About

The career of one of the most influential figures in British graphic design history is celebrated in this exhibition of posters bringing together examples spanning the fifty-year career of the man who defined modern British graphic design, in this exhibition organised by the Design Museum and curated by Emily King. Alan Fletcher co-founded Fletcher/Forbes/Gill in the 1960s and Pentagram in the 1970s. He created iconic brand identities for clients such as Pirelli and the V&A and transformed book design in his role as consultant art editor to Phaidon Press with his spirited, witty and very personal style. The posters in this exhibition encompass both Fletcher's commercial and his personal work, illuminating his abundant visual curiosity and peerless graphic style. All works lent by the kind permission of Paola and Raffaella Fletcher.
