About

The London College of Communication will host an exhibition of famous photographs captured by Colin Jones of The Who early in their career during the high-octane hedonism of Swinging London. In 1966 The Who were on the verge of their big moment when Jones befriended Pete Townshend and was allowed access to the band to photograph them. These images are a testament to the birth of a generation that defined popular music and fashion for decades to come. Colin Jones is one of the most celebrated and prolific photographers of post-war Britain. He has documented facets of social history over the years as diverse as the vanishing industrial working lives of the Northeast (Grafters), delinquent Afro-Caribbean youth in London (The Black House), and most recently, the high-octane hedonism of Swinging London with his famous pictures of The Who early in their career (Maximum Who). This exhibition is part of a series of Text to Image Exhibitions and Publications at LCC.
