WON'T GET FOOLED AGAIN Guaranteed to be an overview of the pack of lies which constitutes much contemporary art, Jon Purnell has selected 15 video and performance artists to play with our perception. Contributing artists: Antoine Catala, Erica Scourti, Alex Staiger, Beagles and Ramsay, Adam Fearon, Jason Dee, Jonathan Trayner, Calum F. Kerr, Jim Hollands, Cack-U-Like, Simon Reuben White, Karen Russo, Dave Ball, Mark Brogan, Rose Eken. All day screening and monitor presentations. SPECIAL LAUNCH EVENT WITH PERFORMANCES: 13 September from 3 — 6pm. FOREST MURMURS Based on overheard conversations recorded on location in Epping Forest; Jonathan Hodgson realised that he had become a sinister presence lurking in the woods, the very thing which he sought to find. Hodgson's narration combined with his unique montage approach to animation describe the anxieties of the undercover investigator while closely examining many of the myths that have long lied buried in this popular public leisure area. On the hour & half-hour screenings. SPECIAL LAUNCH EVENT: 13 September from 3 — 6pm. PAINTING WITH LIGHT A selection of short animated films including Forest Murmursand other acerbic contemplations on the human condition, programmed by Jonathan Hodgson, followed by Contemporary experimental and animated short films from various TWILIGHT zones, selected by Jane Colling, including Half Lifeby Matt Hulse, Bird Callsby Malcolm Sutherland, Palimpsestby Pia Borg, Magnetic Movie by Semiconductor, Leviathanby Simon Bogojevic-Navath (TBC) and An Urban Tale / Conte de quartier by Florence Miailhe (TBC). SPECIAL EVENT: 21 September from 4 — 6pm (Followed by Twilight). TWILIGHT The Bermondsey Artists' Group invite you to an evening of film and performance in the gallery's garden to celebrate the Autumn Equinox. Gail Dickerson will complete a series of watercolours throughout the evening, Harald Smykla will draw reality onto itself with an OHP, Marianna & Daniel O'Reilly present a video documenting the space, time and light of one evening, Mia Fernandes will perform a series of works that trace the body and movement, Sarah Reilly will present a poetry performance, using voice and absence of voice, counterproductions invite you to join Urban Bear foraging in the park, Elisa Alaluusua will screen her film Home Songs and Amanda Francis' Campfire will create the ideal fireside environment for conviviality and sharing. SPECIAL EVENT 21 September from 6pm.
