Mimei Thompson
Transition is pleased to present the first solo show by Mimei Thompson since she graduated from the RCA in 2005.
Thompson’s work investigates energy, alluding to interconnections in systems of reproduction, death, decay, transformation and regeneration. Aesthetically her paintings and drawings combine the grotesque and the sublime in an intriguing mix of ancient and futuristic imagery. There are multiple points of departure in the work including baroque and surrealism, biological proliferations, inner and outer space, evolution and mutation, animation and cartoons.
At Transition Thompson’s wall-drawings, over-layered with other drawings and paintings will form an immersive environment for the viewer to explore.
