Jock Mooney: A Feast of Folly

To mark the launch of Jock Mooney's self-titled book Vane is hosting an exhibition of the artist's recent work. Since 2004 Mooney has exhibited internationally in a string of critically acclaimed solo and group exhibitions. Mooney's work is also familiar to many music fans, having recently graced the covers of a number of releases by Dan le Sac VS Scroobius Pip and the ‘next big thing' Isosceles. As part of ‘A Feast of Folly' the artist's music video collaboration with animator Alasdair Brotherston for Canadian band, Tom Fun Family Orchestra's ‘Throw me to the rats' will also be shown in the gallery alongside recent drawings and a limited edition series of prints. The cream of Jock Mooney's work from 2004-2008 has been condensed into a hardback book, also featuring an essay by artist and lecturer John Beagles. The ‘Jock Mooney' publication is limited to 300 copies worldwide and is priced at £10. The artist will be present to sign copies at the launch on the evening of 23 July. Jock Mooney was born in Edinburgh, UK, in 1982 and lives and works in London. Recent group exhibitions include ‘EMERGENCY3', Aspex, Portsmouth, ‘Review', Gimpel Fils, London, and ‘Play', Bearspace (@Cello Factory), London (2007). Solo exhibitions include ‘I wish I had electricity in my fingers then I'd blast ya', Vane (2006), ‘Funland was no more', Gimpel Fils, London (2007), and ‘A Show Withdrawn', Galleri 5, Lund, Sweden (2008). Forthcoming exhibitions in 2008 include Whitecross Gallery, London, and The Future Can Wait, Old Truman Brewery, London.
