Event detail
French director François Ozon's kitsch homage to Agatha Christie, 8 Women is a comedy murder-mystery set in a large country home during the 1950s. This film continues the exploration of women's roles and relationships in the home, as examined in our current exhibition Résidence Astral.
As a family and its servants are preparing for Christmas, the master of the house is discovered dead in his bed, with a dagger stuck into his back. The murderer must be one of the eight women in the house at the time, and in the course of the investigations each has a tale to tell and secrets to hide.
Starring Catherine Deneuve and Emmanuelle Béart.
"Light-hearted and droll — even if you think you don’t like ‘French’ films, you’ll adore this one."
