Open Studio - Mao Yan Yang

About

Mao Yan Yang's powerful paintings present an entirely alternative view of historical events and challenge us to question what we believe to be true. As part of Asia Triennial Manchester 08, Chinese Arts Centre has hosted Chongqing painter Mao Yan Yang. During his two month residency living and working in the purpose built residency space at Chinese Arts Centre, Mao has been creating new works which continue his interrogation of the media's depiction of events. Showing these new works alongside paintings recent works brought over from China, the open studio will be the first exhibition of his work in the UK.
