Dazzling watercolours of Wessex and Stonehenge at Salisbury Museum

About

Already a brilliant and highly ambitious artist by his early 20s, JMW Turner first came to Salisbury to undertake commissions from two of England's wealthiest men. This three part exhibition includes luminous watercolours of Salisbury Cathedral and other landmarks around the famous town. Later Turner returned to Wessex to paint Stonehenge, the coast, and a historic visit from the King of France. Salisbury Museum is situated a few hundred feet from Salisbury Cathedral and 20 mins by car from Stonehenge.
