About

Education in the visual arts is absolutely central to Oriel Davies' mission, and vital to our role as a public art gallery in Wales. Our learning programmes are deliberately broad and involve people of all ages and backgrounds. This exhibition presents artworks, film, sound recordings, photographs and other documentation showing the breadth and range of some of the projects we have undertaken in recent years. The exhibition showcases projects such as: Young Curators, Start and Criw Celf: The Art Factor, working with young people both in and outside school and college; Fresh Air and Fire, a major reminiscence project for older people; poetry and creative writing; artists' residencies, workshops and outreach programmes. Showtime also presents new art by students working with ARTIST ROOMS: Francesca Woodman, which shows alongside this exhibition. Together these projects reveal just some of the richness of talent and creativity to be found amongst the people of Mid Wales and the Borders, and the inspiration that artists can bring into our lives. Showtime and ARTIST ROOMS: Francesca Woodman will be formally opened by Professor Dai Smith, Chairman, Arts Council of Wales on Saturday 15 November 2014, 6 - 8pm
