Venue: Westgate Studios, 55 Westgate, Wakefield, West Yorkshire. WF1 1BW Time: 10am - 5pm Tickets: £50. 20% discount for students with valid ID. Age: 14+ Materials and equipment provided Explore the potential of paper cutting, folding and construction techniques to create your own unique sculptural forms with paper artists Richard Sweeney and Andy Singleton. With demonstrations and one-to-one help from the artists, learn the basic techniques of paper manipulation, including pattern cutting, pleating and modular form-making. An experimental approach to the material is encouraged, which will allow beginners and experienced folders alike to explore the creative potential of sculpted paper. Richard Sweeney creates paper sculptures and installations inspired by architecture, organic structures, and the the unique properties of paper itself. Commissions include works for Selfridges and Dunhill, London. Previous workshop experience includes the Barbican London, and at universities in the UK, Germany and Denmark. Andy Singleton works in response to the the natural and man made world through intricate paper cutting, paper sculpture, installations and hand drawn illustration. He has created commissioned works for Liberties of London, Kensington Palace, and conducted workshops at West Dean College, the V&A museum and Tate Modern,London.
