To mark the close of our current exhibition, 'Researching the Archive: Five Artists from the Borough', the gallery will open late to coincide with South London Art Map's July 'Last Fridays'. As well as drinks and a last chance to see this research-focused show, as part of this event we will be holding a special screening of British director Ken Loach's feature-length documentary 'The Spirit of '45' (2013). This BIFA nominated film begins with this pivotal year in British history and the radical changes spurred by the spirit of unity of the post-war years. A narrative is woven through materials and research found in regional and national archives, sound recordings and contemporary interviews.
