Footfall Art is delighted to present Matthew Evans.**Late viewing and Footfall Art 1st Birthday party 25/7, 7 - 8.30pm - all welcome**
Working mainly in painting and drawing and with careful deliberation, Matthew Evans employs basic means to construct areas of activity for consideration and contemplation.
No preparatory studies are made. Each work begins with a painted mark or drawn line and is constructed step by step responding to what has gone before. Sometimes compositional cues are taken from simple measurements such as equal divisions of the dimensions of the canvas or perhaps from a grid of randomly coloured squares.
Matthew studied at Reading University, and shows include Jam Tomorrow at APT Gallery 2012; Baggins Gallery, Rochester; Medway Arts Centre, Chatham, and regular open house solo and group exhibits in and around North London.
