Jessica Morgan, Artistic Director of the 10th Gwangju Biennale, introduces the curatorial framework of the next edition, Burning Down the House, opening in September of this year. This will be followed by a conversation with Sally Tallant, Director of Liverpool Biennial The UK Biennial of Contemporary Art.

Jessica Morgan is the Daskalopoulos Curator, International Art at Tate Modern. Prior to Tate, she was previously Chief Curator at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, where she organised exhibitions of work by, among others, Ellen Gallagher, Olafur Eliasson, and Cornelia Parker. Prior to that she was an Assistant Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, where she curated the survey of Mona Hatoum. She has published and lectured extensively on contemporary art and is a regular contributor to art journals including Parkett and Artforum. She holds an MA in Art History from the Courtauld Institute of Art, London and a BA and MA in Art History from Cambridge University. She was a Mellon Fellow at the Yale Centre for British Art, Yale University and a Contemporary Art Curatorial Fellow at The Fogg Art Museum, Harvard University.

Sally Tallant is Director of Liverpool Biennial The UK Biennial of Contemporary Art. From 2001 11 she was Head of Programmes at the Serpentine Gallery, London where she was responsible for the development and delivery of an integrated programme of Exhibitions, Architecture, Education and Public Programmes. She has curated exhibitions in a wide range of contexts including the Hayward Gallery, Serpentine Gallery, hospitals, schools as well as public commissions. She has developed commissioning programmes for artists in a range of contexts and developed long-term projects including The Edgware Road Project, Skills Exchange and Disassembly. She has also curated performances, sound events, film programmes and conferences including initiating the Park Nights series in the Serpentine Gallery Pavilions and co-curating the Serpentine Gallery Marathon series with Hans Ulrich Obrist. She is a regular contributor to conferences nationally and internationally, and a board member of the International Biennial Association and Metal.

This event takes place in the context of the International Production Fund (IPF), which was launched by Outset in May 2012 and brings together private organisations and individuals to support the production of new works at the world's major exhibitions for subsequent donation to public collections. IPF partners supporting the Gwangju Biennale are Outset England, NEON Foundation, Outset Netherlands and Outset USA. Sotheby's are the IPF host for 2013-14.
