Creating New Clichés — A New Emphasis on Drawing

About

A mixed media and collaborative exhibition by a group of artist-teachers from the Institute of Education. This exhibition explores and redefines the practice of drawings, as a greater emphasis on skills based art education is championed by the Governments' new A-Level guidelines. They subvert and stretch what it means to draw, in an attempt to create a new and innovative set of ‘classroom clichés'. With specialisms across the whole spectrum of art and design, the show features a variety of different mediums, including painting, sculpture, installation, graphic design and fashion — each interpreting the theme of drawing. Many of the artists will be working collaboratively to highlight the importance of sharing ideas and collaborative practice within the National Curriculum.
