About

We are extremely pleased to be hosting the Hayward Gallery Touring exhibition, Matisse: Drawing with Scissors. Henri Matisse (1869-1954) was one of the 20th century's most influential artists. A s a pioneering member of the Fauvism movement, works by Matisse are famed for their extraordinary richness and luminosity of colour. The exhibition from the Southbank Centre will feature 35 lithograph prints of the famous cut-outs, produced in the last four years of his life, when the artist was confined to his bed, and includes many of his iconic images, such as The Snail and the Blue Nudes. Accompanying these works is paintings by contemporary Scottish artist, Jacqueline Watt. Through time spent living in Collioure, where Matisse spent much of his life, Jacqueline's work highlights the ongoing influences that the area still has on living artists, drawing comparisons between her work and that of Matisse. Jacqueline will also being hosting talks on Saturday 3rd May. For information on how to book please get in contact.
