This year is the UK – Russia year of culture and La Galleria Pall Mall in London will be exhibiting the work of the young Russian artist Anna Matorina in her exhibition Revolution with a crossed R. This most prestigious and contemporary art gallery has been host to many famous artists and it is fitting that Anna will be opening her first show in London at La Galleria Pall Mall as they share a similar ethos. Both Anna and La Galleria have the idea that nurturing good talent will contribute in helping the local community have more interest and a better understanding of art. This exhibition will help to make Anna’s work more renowned and her dream of making art accessible to everyone, all over the world erasing the boundaries of communities closer to a reality. Although Revolution with a crossed R is Anna’s first solo exhibition she has exhibited in Moscow with fellow artists before.
The exhibition Revolution with a crossed R is exactly that, evolution. Anna has been concentrating on the evolution and innovation of fine art rather than revolutionizing it. The artist has been busy working in Moscow searching through every period in the history of art, looking for old and discarded methods, techniques and materials that she can blend together with the academic techniques of drawing and painting that she has learnt since childhood. In order to expand the emotional reactions of her audience, Anna has been experimenting with abstract painting techniques. Although Anna has been currently working in Moscow she plans to go to the Netherlands to continue her studies.
At the Revolution with a crossed R exhibition in April 2014 Anna will be performing live. She will create two simultaneous paintings on two canvases from an object. One piece will be modern and the other a classical artwork using the skills she has learnt at university. Anna’s live performance will be accompanied by live music bringing both of her loves together at the same time. Great joy can be bought to the soul by the combination of music and art and not just for the artist.
Anna is planning other exhibitions later on in the year, another in London and one in Madrid this will be carried out with help from the mission of Rossotrudnichestvo. She will probably be participating in the running of the bi- annual Russian art week in London from Fri 30th May- Fri 6th June 2014. During this week London’s major auction houses, including Sotheby’s Christie’s, Bonham’s and MacDougall’s unite and together stage a series of Russian art sales in London.
The Revolution with a crossed R exhibition will take place at La Galleria Pall Mall London from 31st March 2014
