One Thousand Cranes: An Exhibition of Contemporary Paper Making

About

One Thousand Cranes will feature the work of a selection of the UK's leading artists currently working in the medium of paper in a group exhibition showcasing some of the very best contemporary paper-cutting, origami and kirigami. Examining the various methods and techniques, both traditional and innovative which characterise paper art, this exhibition aims to explore the sculptural and graphic possibilities of paper whilst playfully reimagining the conventional uses of the medium as a marked surface such as in the printed word or cartography. Taking our title from the belief that the folding of one thousand origami cranes bestows eternal good luck on the folder, this exhibition will offer new perspectives on paper-making.
