Now in its ninth year, the Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize - created by The Worshipful Company of Painter-Stainers and The Lynn Foundation - is a competition designed to encourage creative representational painting and to promote the skill of draughtsmanship.
The exhibition, open at the Mall Galleries, London, from 17 to 22 March 2014, will feature the very best in British figurative painting, showcasing work of both established and young contemporary artists. From a record number of entries - approximately 1,400 works submitted for the competition 85 works by British artists, were selected for the Lynn Painter-Stainers exhibition, by a panel of five of highly regarded art world figures.
The 2014 selectors are: Peter Clossick, artist; Ken Howard OBE RA NEAC, artist; Paul Newland, artist; Steve Pill, Editor, Artists & Illustrators; and, Andrew Wilton, Visiting Research Fellow at Tate Britain.
A total prize fund of £25,000, offers an impressive First Prize worth £15,000, five Runner-up Prizes of £1,500 and the £2,500 Young Artist Award. The award winner's will be announced during a private ceremony and preview event on Monday 17 March 2014, at the Mall Galleries, London.
