Timothy Taylor Gallery is proud to present its 6th solo show by the renowned American artist Alex Katz, focusing on his works from the 70s, 80s and 90s. The exhibition explores the progression and distillation of Katz’s unique technique during this period featuring the artist’s characteristic large-scale paintings and aluminium cut out works. Ada, Ada, 1991, a double portrait of Katz’s wife, who remains a constant presence in his paintings, exemplifies the artist’s fluid and audacious approach to painting. Katz’s resolute style and surface brilliance has influenced a generation of younger artists including Peter Doig, Elizabeth Peyton and Merlin James.
