Introduction to Linocut

About

An introduction for people cutting lino for the first time, amazing results in a short space of time. In two days, or three evenings, we will be developing a design to the block and then cutting it. Students will be lent gougers so that they can work on the image at home which makes the best use of the studio time and advice of the tutor. Linocut magically transforms a drawing into a whole different realm and the results can be very exciting and inspire people to continue. It is very addictive. At the end of the course you should be able to print independently and be ready to attend Open Access at East London Printmakers. You will also be able to move on to an intermediate level course in the same technique. Chris Pig is an artist /printmaker with work in public and private collections throughout the world. After seven years as principal lecturer in printmaking at City and Islington College he left to run his own print studio in Spain before returning to London in 2006. He has been a member of East London Printmakers since then and has also been elected to the Society of Wood Engravers. He now lives in Leyton with his partner and three pesky little kids.
