About

At ICA, London (not Lighthouse) To celebrate Jane Linfoot's catalogue of critically acclaimed short films, all of which have competed internationally at film festivals, join us for this special screening and Q&A at London Short Film Festival. All three films to be screened at this unique event (Youth, On Your Own and Sea View) feature young characters on the cusp of adulthood. A boy in care tries to make his way into normal life, a group of teens wrestle with adolescence, and a teenage girl struggles to navigate a sexual situation with an older man. These stark and emotional portraits follow young characters trying to find their way through their mistakes. Jane was selected for the initial Directors Lab at Edinburgh International Film festival 2008, as chosen by Film4, the UK Film Council and Stephen Woolley; in the same year she was featured in Screen International's 'Star of Tomorrow'. Sea View was made under the BFI Shorts scheme with Lighthouse, and she is currently working on her first feature length film with the BFI. Youth (2007, 20 min) A triptych of stories about teenagers; filmed in a naturalistic style, this short focuses on the minutiae of adolescence. On Your Own (2010, 15 min) The story of a boy in care whose attempts to be independent are thwarted by his environment Sea View (2013, 24 min) A portrait of a teenage girl struggling to navigate her way through a brief encounter with an older man. Join us for ‘Meet the Filmmaker' drinks in the ICA bar afterwards, courtesy of Lighthouse in association with the BFI. Date: Sunday 12 January Time: 6.30pm Venue: Institute of Contemporary Art, 12 Carlton House Terrace, SW1Y 5AH
