Bewilderness is an imagined realm. characters and found objects that are lost, unwanted or marginalised populate it. A home for those who do not sit comfortably in the common imagination of storytelling or have not won a place in history: failed knights, rejected toys, third-most-beautiful princesses. Talya has always been interested in tenacity as a theme — things that have survived against the odds, like feral pigeons, weeds growing in cracks and toys salvaged from jumble sales. ‘i suppose this is partly because I count myself amongst the inhabitants of the land i've created, but I don't see it as a sad place. on the contrary: it is full of optimism, and it is never a boring place to be'.
