About

Oriel Wrecsam hosts Criw Celf for the third year running. Criw Celf is an across Wales initiative, supported by the Arts Council of Wales, that provides additional creative opportunities for children and young people who are recognised as being ‘gifted and talented' in the Visual Arts. Criw Celf originated in Gwynedd County Council and has grown and now has three components, as follows: Criw Celf Bach (7 — 11 year olds) Criw Celf (11 — 14 years old) Portfolio (14 — 18 years old) * At each stage children/young people are given unique and enriching opportunities that expand their perceptions and expectations of the Visual Arts. The high quality work that students produce is accredited with Childrens/Youth University credits but can also be recognised as part of school/college courses (e.g. to aid portfolio building/coursework), as appropriate. For a fee of £35 per person, students receive highly subsidised master classes with professional artists, an arts related educational trip, a high quality art pack and inclusion in an Oriel Wrecsam (and sometimes out of county) exhibition. Students are then given their artwork back at the end of the project/exhibition. In Wrexham, Schools, colleges and parents are able to nominate children and young people in the Autumn term. If you think a Wrexham based child/young person should be considered for the new 2013/14 Criw Celf bach or Criw Celf projects, we would like to hear from you. *Note: Portfolio is not officially rolling out until 2016, however, Oriel Wrecsam is planning master class tasters during the holidays. Please watch this space for further details.
