Doomed Gallery presents Domestic, a group show of three artists exploring the notion of domesticity conjured by home. Domestic questions the identity of the female, but also the identity of photography at a time when the expectations and demands of both are in flux; both subject and medium grapple for new meaning. The politics of home-making and the reality of staying at home are approached with these works focusing on the relation between self and home. They hint at a stifling place: ‘home can be hell, a place of frozen inertia and solitude'. In these works we experience the changing conditions of power, gender, domesticity and familial relations.
