About

In this exhibition Chosil Kil, a Korean artist based in London, explores the desire for assimilation and 'home'. The installation Living with Andis, groups together fragments of memory which recall a personal experience: three days after meeting Latvian van driver Andis in 2005, Chosil Kil moved into his Copenhagen flat. She immediately began to document the process of adapting to her new partner's lifestyle in different media, reconciling her conflicting emotions by arranging and reordering the physical fragments and memories of the experience. This process led her to explore and resolve other relationships in a similar way. In the new work Cocoon she transforms used, found or donated objects into a nest, placing personal memories within a new context to create a shelter for herself that reflects not only on her own experience of immigration, but also the society that she strives to become a part of.
In collaboration with Riflemaker, London.
