About

16/10/13 - 27/10/13. Paul Granjon. The Thingy Robots are especially popular with children. Roaming on the gallery floor, the Thingies go through their simple cyber-motions amongst visitors. In the commercial environment of Arcade Cardiff, Queens Arcade, Cardiff CF10 2BY, Paul Granjon opens two distinct spaces. Unit 3B hosts a family of Thingy Robots, small autonomous machines specially popular with children. The colourful robots are constructed with recycled parts and open source components. Come and mingle with the Thingies as they move about and go through their simple cyber-motions, including a remote-control state where visitors can drive a robot using a phone. Paul Granjon is an artist based in Cardiff. He is interested in in the co-evolution of humans and machines, imagining solutions for alternative futures and minimising human impact on the planet's resources. He builds robots and other machines for shows in performances, galleries and festivals and also create temporary factories and other events where people can join in making, thinking, and playing.
