About

Erskine, Hall & Coe is pleased to present a solo exhibition of 17 works and several drawings by renowned British artist, Jennifer Lee, from the 9th of October through the 1st of November 2013. Born in Aberdeenshire, Scotland in 1956, Lee studied at the Royal College of Art. She has travelled extensively and exhibited in America, Australia, Japan and elsewhere. Her work is highly sought after throughout the world both by private collectors and public collections. This is Jennifer Lee's first London exhibition in five years. Since her last exhibition in London in 2008, she has held solo exhibitions in America and Australia and was invited in 2009 by Issey Miyake to exhibit in Tokyo at his foundation, 21_21 Design Sight in the exhibition 'U-Tsu-Wa, Lucie Rie, Jennifer Lee, Ernst Gamperl.' The exhibition was directed by Issey Miyake and designed by Tadao Ando. The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, Los Angeles County Museum as well as the Victoria and Albert Museum are among the many institutions that have acquired her work. As Edmund de Waal noted: "Lee has managed that rare thing: to own a language of form and tone. She now has the freedom to inflect that language with a subtle and distinctive voice." The exhibition at Erskine, Hall & Coe will be viewable from Monday through Saturday, 10:00 - 18:00, and there is no admission fee to attend. Jennifer Lee will be present in the gallery on Saturday, the 19th of October, from 11:00 - 16:00. A catalogue accompanying the show includes an essay by Emma Crichton-Miller.
