New Major solo exhibition from emerging British artist XXXora

About

THE CAPTURED HERMAPHRODITE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE The Captured Hermaphrodite is the new exhibition by emerging British artist XXXora. This series seeks to document and depict each of the world's naturally occurring hermaphroditic species via surreal and optical illusion based self portraiture. This is the first in the collection of paintings including The Oak Tree, The Clownfish and The Pansy. Every year until death, XXXora will produce seven new paintings for this ongoing series, in what will become a lifetime project. Entering into a hermaphroditic realm governed by predatory forces, XXXora invites the viewer to share the visceral dysphoria and disunity of those born between the established binary and to witness the capture of all significant androgynous archetypes in Western religious code and thus culture, by making the hermaphrodite completely invisible. The date for the opening of this much anticipated exhibition is Friday the 11th October from 6-9pm at the Gernika Gallery near Bank and Monument station. The show will run from the 12th to 31st October Gernika Gallery, 30 Lombard Street, EC3V 9BQ. Nearest tube Bank or Monument. Opening drinks reception Friday 11th October 6-9pm Show runs 12th - 31st October 2013 www.xxxora.com Press enquiries 07540 637470
