The Local Knowledge
“The taxicab driver is required to be able to decide routes immediately in response to a passenger's request or traffic conditions, rather than stopping to look at a map, relying on satellite navigation or asking a controller by radio.”
Like taxicab drivers, we should all have a knowledge of our community, who to talk to, who to work with, who we are and how we connect beyond the boundary lines. Oxford House presents ‘The Knowledge’: a community arts festival exploring ways to understand and gain ‘the knowledge’ of our local community, establishing Oxford House as a hub of diverse knowledge and a venue that wants to reach out to artists.
The festival offers an exciting range of events, including ‘The Local knowledge’, shows a diverse range of local artist’s practice. ‘Knowledge’ is something to be shared, which a variety of Bethnal Green’s artists demonstrate through their unique practices. They express their own knowledge and view of the world, both locally and further afield, creating a dynamic and diverse show. The Oh! Gallery plays host to an array of local talent, promoting creativity and the desire for knowledge found in the local community.
