Thursday - Saturday 11am - 5pm
The Lumière Project is an on-going investigation by Dan McDermott that started in 2010 and consists of paintings, photographs, prints, and moving image. All the work is based on a common source - photographic frames taken from one of the earliest examples of cinema - The Lumière Brothers Arrival of a Train at La Ciotat, 1895.

Over two small rooms, laid out as though the pages of a sketch book, The Lumiere Project looks inside a series of past moments. The moment the Lumiere brothers film was first conceived and the numerous moments the artist has revisited the film. McDermotts deep reflections expressed in oil, photography, film and ink have together transformed High House Gallery into a place of transition which exists neither in the past nor in the present.
The Lumiere Project continues at High House Gallery until 6 October 2013.
