About

Traditional Native American carving and the Futurist-inspired designs of the English Grosvenor School are brought together in Ratushniak's dynamic lino prints. Canadian-born Gary Ratushniak worked alongside the indigenous people of Vancouver Island where he was taught to carve and was given his own tribal name. A chance encounter at a printmaking class introduced Ratushniak to Sybil Andrews who had been a leading artist in the 1920s Grosvenor School. For his first UK museum exhibition, Ratushniak's work will be available to purchase, and will be displayed alongside his own carvings, his printing block and rarely seen originals by Sybil Andrews.
