Zero Is Immense

Aid & Abet and Anglia Ruskin University are delighted to present Zero is Immense, a solo exhibition by Tom Dale, bringing together an exciting range of work, some of which will be shown in the UK for the first time. A former ‘Artist of the week' in the Guardian Newspaper Dale will make use of Aid & Abet's entire warehouse space. His work, which is at once witty and diverse, might be deemed ‘inappropriate' by some, take for instance ‘Department of the Interior', a giant inflatable castle made entirely from black leather or 'High Noon' a lush red 7 x 5 m carpet which has had crop-circle-like symbols crushed in to it using a missile launcher. The films and digital images Dale will be showing alongside what he sometimes refers to as ‘Preposterous Sculptures' all consider the way in which abstract forms of power impinge on a sense of public and private space. Taking its title from a text by errant British philosopher Nick Land, the show considers, Lands argument that the drive to make meaning could ultimately be based on its absence, but that this is a position of strength rather than apathy.
