Giles Bailey works largely with performance to rethink conventional approaches to assembling and recounting history. Working with texts, video fragments and choreographies, either composed himself or strategically plundered from elsewhere, these works propose a historiographic model that acknowledges doubt, subjectivity and reduction as inevitable factors when making sense of past events. Recent exhibitions and performances include KW Institute, Berlin DE; Outpost, Norwich UK; Arnolfini, Bristol UK (all 2013); Cage, New York US (2012) and Van Horbourg, Basel CH (2011).
Using a mixed media approach, Tom Crawford's work is concerned with the structural inequalities of neoliberalism and questions the political efficacy of art. Drawing from mainly British cultural references, Crawford's work explores the class politics prevalent in British society. He graduated from Goldsmiths University in 2011, where he completed an MFA in Fine Art . Exhibitions include Home Theatre at Baro Galeria, São Paolo BR (2013); Thrift Radiates Happiness at Birmingham Municipal Bank (2013); The Aspiration Factory at Aeroplastics Contemporary, Brussels BE (2012); Colloquial at Schau Fenster, Berlin DE (2012) and Other People's Problems at PSL, Leeds (2011).
Camilla Wills' work is concerned with moments of breakdown and convalescence. Interior or unconscious situations are projected onto dominant landscapes and gendered histories, creating images of estrangement, and of proximity. Recent projects include Notes on Neo-Camp, Studio Voltaire, London; POST, Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen DK; On ne connaît les chiffres que d'un côté du plan, art3, Valence FR; Sunbathers, 1857, Oslo NO and Instant Publishing/Automatic Writing, ICA, London (all 2013). In 2011 she completed the Masters programme at Piet Zwart Institute, Rotterdam NL and she currently works in the editorial team at Book Works, London.
Rehana Zaman composes anecdotes, vignettes and short stories, drawn from specific sociopolitical contexts, as videos, live works and texts. Narratives are abstracted and carefully staged to examine the intricate performances that play out within social situations. She has presented solo exhibitions at Outpost, Norwich and Studio Voltaire, London (2013). Selected group exhibitions include Baro, São Paolo BR (2013), The Showroom, Whitechapel Gallery and Limoncello, London (all 2012). In 2013 Zaman was awarded a Gasworks International Fellowship to take up a residency in Lebanon. She completed her MFA in Fine Art at Goldsmiths in 2011 and is currently participating in the LUX Associate Artists programme.
