Ros Lymer creates mixed media textile art, featuring intricate stitched and printed images over layered textile collage.
Ros’s techniques include embroidery, batik, felt-making, print-making, heat press and painting. She also incorporates found objects and images into her work, and she layers intense, bold colours, images and textural marks. Her work brings together fragments that have been discarded or overlooked; she is interested in the minutiae of life – passing expressions, tiny household items that make our lives tick, weeds that inhabit the world quietly and unobtrusively. Her work celebrates the preciousness of these throw away items and moments.
Ros is a Brighton based artist, brought up in Sussex. She completed a degree in Fine Art Painting in Manchester in 1990, where her work involved large scale assemblages combining objects, paint and textural media. She now combines teaching textiles and art with the development of her own work.
