17th August 2013, 1-3pm - £20 Learn how to paint using oil paints with artists Julie Bennett and Jemma Grundon, this introductory painting workshop is aimed at all levels from art enthusiasts through to artists who want to discover new techniques and skills. Artists: Julie Bennett and Jemma Grundon will offer an insight into the construction of both landscape and portrait painting using the medium of oils. With a chance to talk directly with both artists about their practices and tecniques. Throughout the workshop you will have the opportunity to work with oil paint and mediums, to understand how to alter the viscosity of the paint using various solvents. Help will be provided in cleaning and caring for oil painting equipment, As well tips and knowledge on how to prepare grounds and surfaces to paint on. This workshop will build your awareness of oil painting techniques and increase your confidence in using them for painting. *All paints, mediums, materials, solvents and cleaning materials will be provided and shared amongst the group. Booking is required, as there is a maximum of 5 places available, so please email DegreeArt at: chantelle@degreeart.com REPRE RESIDENCY A Collaboration in Identity and Representation in Paint. Repre are a group of artists that share a common vision to capture and depict reality. From the body to the landscape, each artist is concerned with not only depicting the real, but exploring the boundaries of realism within their practice. There are a variety of ideas that the artists are driven by such as surface, mass media, atmosphere or the deconstruction of reality, these themes will provide the basis for the residency and will give an insight into the role of realism within each artist's work. EVENTS AND WORKSHOPS: The group welcomes all members of the public to fully engage with the collaborative processes, through visiting the gallery, social media and taking part in workshops. Please book and materials will be provided. TALKS: Panel Discussion with Repre Artists. 29 August — 6.30pm — 8pm. Drop in Session.
