Young Voices Against Discrimination

About

The Exploring the Unthinkable Exhibition is the result of a project funded by the Safer Stronger Communities Fund after a proposal by the Race and Hate Crime Interagency Forum. The forum is part of Tower Hamlets Council's Living Safely Community Plan Action Group.

Over 200 pupils from Central Foundation Girls' School in Bow have been working to put together an exhibition to explore the prejudices associated with hate crime. Issues around discrimination prejudice and stereotypes were incorporated into the school's Performing Arts Curriculum.

The work depicts the six different strands of race and hate crime identified by RHIAF: incidents where people have been targeted because of their race, faith, gender, disability, age or sexual orientation. The work carries important messages from the young people via screenplays, storyboards, clay sculptures, textile work, dance and music.
