About

Artist Jane Lee McCracken's intricate drawings in coloured Biro, which take weeks to create, explore her preoccupation with fairy tales, forests and wolves. In this new exhibition she re-creates the fairy tale setting of The Woodcutter's Cottage. Jane's subject matter comes from childhood memories, fairy tales, found objects, film stills and her pet dog. In her multi-layered drawings she uses simplicity and beauty to represent difficult issues such as the aftermath of wars and natural disasters, creating memorials of lives lived, both human and animal, and of ways of life lost.
