Summer Exhibition: A Cacophony of Colour

About

This week Summer has most definitely returned Cambridge, a time of year where colour emerges in abundance, and Lynne Strover Gallery's forthcoming show is no exception. Lynne Strover, director of the gallery for almost 25 years, is delighted to have the opportunity to introduce a new artist to the gallery — Belynda Sharples. Known for her exuberant style and use of colour, these whimsical still life paintings are so immediately refreshing, like an ice-cold lemon sorbet on a hot summers day. Her pastel palette is diverse but expertly applied to create light and airy paintings with a definite feminine touch. Art school trained in Interior Design, Sharples spent many years within the interior sector before taking a degree in American Studies, after which followed a period of working for The National Trust in events and fundraising but it is undoubtedly her BA in Textile Culture that has inspired her current body of work. A new series of prints from Rosemary Vanns together with a recent delivery of exquisite landscape paintings from around Lamorna Cove by painter Ann Armitage and new works from our AB Fab artist Henrietta Dubrey promise to add some heat to this years Summer Show. Entitled ‘Cacophony of Colour' — Lynne's Summer Exhibition always sets the tone perfectly for its mid-July opening and promises vibrant shades and uplifting paintings.
