Artists Mariele Neudecker and Mary McIntrye in Conversation

About

Presented in association with the exhibition Imagining Islands: Artists and Escape, this conversation will shed light on the allure of the island as an exemplary landscape, a field of projection, idealisation and imagination. Mariele Neudecker (born 1965, Germany) lives and works in Bristol, UK. She uses a broad range of media including sculpture, video and installation and works around notions of the Contemporary Sublime. This September she will participate in the exhibition ‘The Magnetic North', Lousiana Museum of Modern Art, Denmark. Mary McIntyre (born 1966, Northern Ireland) is based in Belfast, where she is a Reader in Fine Art at the Belfast School of Art. McIntyre's work locates contemporary photography in relation to arthistorical ideas of the Sublime. Her solo exhibition A Contemporary Sublime, showed at The MAC, Belfast, November 2013 - January 2013. Image from Google search of Mary McIntyre's Lough V, 2006
