About

Delve into Birmingham's collection of portraits in this exhibition exploring the relationship between sitters and their environment. It presents paintings, prints and photographs from the 18th century to the present day by artists including Joshua Reynolds, John Singer Sargent, Lubaina Himid and Craigie Horsfield. The display also features William Orpen's famous portrait of his fellow artist Augustus John, exhibited in 1901, which is on loan from the National Portrait Gallery.
