Local textile artist Helen Chatterton will talk about creating tactile scarves and cushions incorporating colourful velvets, Harris Tweed and vibrant Liberty fabrics. Perfect winter warmers! This event is open to current and new subscribing Friends of the Bluecoat Display Centre as well as members of The Athenaeum Club. Tickets are £12.50 each which includes Helen's talk followed by afternoon tea at The Athenaeum. Places are limited so advanced booking is essential. Helen Chatterton is a Liverpool based textile artist specialising in cushions, scarves and lavender bags. Helen creates a selection of textiles including Harris Tweed and other wool sourced from the Scottish Highlands. She combines these with French velvets, cotton lawn, Liberty print fabrics as well as linen she has had specially printed with a 19th Century map of Liverpool. Her favourite periods in history are the Nineteen-twenties and -thirties. Many of her colour-ways reflect these period themes, focusing on the juxtaposition of colour. She finds much inspiration when sourcing new fabrics.
