First UK solo show for Chinese contemporary artists the Gao Brothers

About

Beijing-based artists the Gao Brothers have been working together since the mid-1980s largely on projects of a political nature and humanitarian stance. Dissident and controversial, the Gao Brothers are some of those artists who personally experienced and have been deeply affected by the events of the Cultural Revolution in China. Their art questions the role of the individual within society, bringing to light social issues and the complex nature of humans. Their art is not only a social commentary but it also presents itself as a manifestation of romantic spiritualism and human values. Between Spiritual and Material Spaces: the Photographic World of the Gao Brothers with be their first ever major solo exhibition in London bringing together a series of photographic works whose focal point is the relationship between the individual and their spiritual and material spaces. @HuaGallery
