Pop-Up Exhibition and Book Launch

About

The Art of Walking is the first extensive survey of walking in contemporary art. Edited by David Evans of criticaldictionary.com, the publication is structured around a series of visually led 'walks' dealing with seven overlapping themes: footprints and lines; writers and philosophers; marches and processions; aliens, dandies and drifters; slapstick; studios, museums and biennales; and dog walkers. Join us on Saturday 18 May as we celebrate the book's launch with a pop-up exhibition of work by artists featured in the publication, including Francis Alys, Tim Edgar, Christian Edwardes, Simon Faithfull, Oleg Kulik, Peter Liversidge, Tom Lovelace, Sophy Rickett, Susan Stockwell and Krzysztof Wodiczko. As part of our AfterWORK Event Series, David Evans will be in conversation with artist Peter Liversidge on all matters perambulatory from 3.30 pm. The event is free but RSVP is advised as seating is limited. The Art of Walking will be available from Paperwork Bookshop for the special price of £13 throughout the day and David Evans will be signing copies after the event. WORK is an independent gallery and event space that presents a varied interdisciplinary programme collaborating closely with innovators in the fields of art, design and architecture. This event is held in conjunction with the inaugural WC1 & EC1 Open Day for galleries in the Clerkenwell area.
