Goddard Nixon: Middlemost Nowhere Middlemost Nowhere is a duet of fractured tenderness and mysterious camaraderie. Harsh Arctic beauty and the instinct to survive combine to create a journey with no horizon. This piece was first created for the Place Prize 2012 by Jonathan Goddard and Gemma Nixon in collaboration with lighting designer Michael Hulls, it features an original score by Miguel Marin and costumes by Alice Walkling. Founded in 2009 as a choreographic collaboration Goddard Nixon has grown to steady acclaim. Creating dance for both live events, film and TV, work has recently been shown nationally and internationally at the Royal Opera House, the Royal Court, the Victoria and Albert Museum, in India and throughout Spain. Commissionoed for The Place Prize for dance sponsored by Bloomberg. www.goddardnixon.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chris and me: Accompany Accompany is an autobiographical account of the frustrations, indecisions, non-beginnings and self-indulgences that can litter a creative process. The piece was born out of a quest to create something as two collaborative artists, who also happened to be in a relationship. What resulted was a clustered journey of different ideas, grinding at the egos of two different people, who share the same unconditional support for each other. That and the same fear of a deadline. Chris Evans and Sita Ostheimer are former Hofesh Shechter Company performers. Chris has also worked with Lost Dog and Gecko. Accompany was commissioned by Hofesh Shechter Company as part of In Good Company 2012, made possible by generous support from the Jerwood Charitable Foundation, in partnership with South East Dance and Brighton Dome ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Robbie Synge: Settlement Settlement features two men and three large wooden boards. Following Robbie's relocation from London to the Highlands, the work considers themes of vulnerability; resolution; harmony; and the effort of holding things together. Equally, it is two men building stuff. Made predominantly in The Highlands, Settlement was originally commissioned by The Place for The Place Prize for Contemporary Dance 2012 sponsored by Bloomberg. Robbie Synge was a physiologist before pursuing dance and choreography in performance and on film. He has worked on diverse performance and education projects across the UK with Rosemary Lee, Jean Abreu, Dance United, plan B and others.
