About

TAMI AMIT | CRASH 10 -14 April 2013 The Brick Lane Gallery — The Annexe 93-95 Sclater St, E16HR Opening Preview Wednesday 10 April, 6-8.30pm Tami Amit is an Israeli photographer born in 1972. Tami has had several gallery and museum exhibitions, including a solo exhibition at The Petach Tikya Museum of Art, Israel. In her solo exhibition at The Brick Lane Gallery — The Annexe this April, Tami presents her latest series of photographs — CRASH. Juxtaposing the beautiful with the tragic, Tami portrays a violent scene through a series of 18 photographs which tell an intimate story of three girls, two vehicles and a violent accident in the middle of a desolate forest. Tami uses the drama of a cinematic style of photography, to capture audiences and draw them into the images presented. A combination of carefully composed scenes and close-up shots of figures will create an almost surreal story. A subtle placement of colour will make the tragic elements of the scenes — the blood, cuts, and bruises- as well as the beautiful elements — the clothing, hair, lips and eyes of the women pop from each photograph. Works has exhibited in group and solo shows in Tel Aviv, Miami, Paris and Brussels. Several works by the artist have been sold at auction, including at the Montefiore ‘Israeli and International Art' auction in 2010. The Brick Lane Gallery — The Annexe is pleased to present CRASH — Tami Amit's first solo exhibition in London. You are invited to the preview evening on Wednesday 10 April, 6-8.30pm.
