'Nineteen Fourteen': An Exhibition by Surface Gallery Volunteers

About

Surface Gallery presents the 2013 Volunteer exhibition, 'Nineteen Fourteen', showcasing the work of those who volunteer at the gallery. Bringing together a diverse group of artists, the exhibition offers a wide range of contemporary art from drawing to video installation.

The title of the exhibition 'Nineteen Fourteen' denotes the age of the building that Surface Gallery currently resides in. It represents the story of the building and it's existing inhabitants, Surface Gallery, who bring contemporary art to different audiences in the local area and support the development of artists and those wishing to work in the arts. As the history of the building continues to be written, the volunteer exhibition is an exploration of the varied individuals and artists who support the gallery and the building itself as they continue to contribute to it.

The private view will be held on Tuesday 2nd April 6pm ' 8pm, offering drinks and a chance to view the work before it is open to the public. Our resident studio artists will also be displaying their work, in our first Open Studio, for the public to view and purchase. Surface Gallery will hold a closing event with live entertainment on 16th April 6pm ' 8pm. We look forward to seeing you and hope you will join us to celebrate both the history of the building and our hopes for its future.
